A major avalanche has trapped more than 40 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers in Uttarakhand’s Badrinath region. The NDRF, in coordination with the Indian Army and local authorities, has launched an extensive search and rescue operation to locate the missing workers. While 32 workers have been rescued so far, the search continues for the others.

The avalanche struck during the workers’ road construction efforts in the region, which is known for its hazardous weather conditions. The snowstorm buried the workers under tons of snow and debris, and rescue operations were immediately launched. However, the difficult terrain, freezing temperatures, and constant snowfall have slowed down the process.

The NDRF teams are using advanced snow-cutting equipment and life-detection tools to locate survivors. In addition, aerial surveillance has been conducted to get a better understanding of the extent of the damage. The Army has been working closely with the NDRF to clear the snow and debris.

Despite the harsh conditions, the search continues, and authorities are optimistic that more survivors will be found in the coming hours. Medical teams are on standby to provide immediate care to any rescued workers.
