Delhi Police are searching for two men who remain at large after a 17-year-old girl allegedly reported being gang-raped by three men at Astha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening after the teenager and her 17-year-old male friend visited Kalkaji Mandir. Police said the pair went to the temple at around 7 pm and later entered Astha Kunj Park.
According to the victim’s statement, three men approached them at about 7:30 pm. The suspects were reportedly aged between 25 and 30. They allegedly told the teenagers that they were police officers.
Police said the men threatened the pair and separated the girl from her friend. One suspect allegedly restrained the boy while the three allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.
The alleged assault was reported to authorities through a PCR call at around 8:45 pm. Police officers from Amar Colony police station reached the park and began investigating.
The girl was medically examined, and her statement was recorded. The case was registered under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The investigation involved the examination of the location as well as the collection of forensic evidence. Police also began reviewing CCTV footage from areas around the park in an effort to identify the suspects and determine their movements.
One of the alleged accused was later identified as Asif. Police teams reportedly received information about his location near DM Office Road in Amar Colony.
According to the police version, officers attempted to intercept him. Police said Asif allegedly opened fire at the team, firing three rounds. One bullet reportedly struck Head Constable Rajesh’s bulletproof jacket.
The officer returned fire, police said, and one bullet struck Asif in his right leg. He was subsequently apprehended and taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre for medical treatment.
The encounter itself became part of the investigation. Crime and forensic teams reportedly visited the location and collected evidence. Police are examining the circumstances of the exchange of fire as well as the original assault allegations.
The remaining two suspects have not been apprehended according to the latest reports. Police teams are continuing efforts to trace them.
Investigators are expected to examine CCTV footage, witness accounts and forensic evidence while establishing the sequence of events. Authorities are also working to determine the individual roles allegedly played by the three men.
The case has attracted attention because the accused allegedly represented themselves as police personnel before threatening the teenagers. Such impersonation can create an additional layer of intimidation for people who believe they are being confronted by actual law-enforcement officers.
Because the complainant is a minor, the investigation is being conducted under provisions designed to protect children in sexual-offence cases.
Police have not concluded the investigation, and the allegations remain subject to the legal process. Further arrests and additional details are expected as investigators continue their search for the remaining suspects.
