Leaders Online Desk : GT vs MI Qualifier 2 : The second qualifier of IPL 2023 between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will be played today (26th) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match will start at 7.30 PM IST. The two teams will be facing each other for the first time in the playoffs and it will be important for both GT and MI to win this match to secure their ticket to the finals. However, it is equally true that the path will not be easy.

Mumbai wins in 13 playoff matches

Mumbai Indians team finished fourth in the points table after the league stage. The team had 16 points from 14 matches with 8 wins and 6 losses. The Rohit Sharma-led team entered the Qualifier-2 after defeating Lucknow Supergiants by 81 runs in the eliminator. The team reached the playoffs for the 10th time. MI have played 19 matches in the IPL playoffs so far and won 13 of them. They have lost in 6. (GT vs MI Qualifier 2)

Today’s match will see Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma and middle order batsman Suryakumar Yadav take on Gujarat’s veteran spinner Rashid Khan. Actually, Rohit and Surya have failed in front of Rashid. Rashid has dismissed Rohit four times in six innings. Surya has scored 67 runs off 47 balls from Rashid. (GT vs MI Qualifier 2)

Mumbai’s playing eleven will be like this?

Mumbai will have four foreign players in the Qualifier 2 match. It is likely to include Cameron Greene, Jason Behrendorff, Tim David and Chris Jordan. Apart from this, spinner Kumar Karthikeya may get a chance in place of all-rounder Hrithik Shokin given the batting-friendly pitch.

Excellent performance by Akash, Nehal

Mumbai have not had a good start in this IPL but players like Tilak Verma, Nehal Vadra and now Akash Madhwal have given new wings to their hopes. In the eliminator against Lucknow, Madhwal bowled charismatically taking five wickets for five runs. Prior to that, his three wickets in the final league match against Hyderabad helped keep Mumbai’s playoff hopes alive. On the other hand, Nehal Vadra played a brilliant innings of 52 against RCB and 64 against Chennai. He also scored a crucial 23 against Lucknow in the eliminator.

Will Gujarat Titans make a change in playing 11?

Gujarat Titans have high hopes from skipper Hardik. They need a No.4 batsman in their playing eleven. Hardik Pandya bats well at number three. In IPL 2023, he has averaged 40 in eight innings while batting at number three. But he has struggled at number four. Batting at this position, he has averaged 11.4 runs in five innings. Similarly, if the number four batsman returns quickly, it becomes a game for the opposition team. In such a situation, Hardik needs to give chance to Sai Sudarshan for number four. Sai has batted brilliantly for GT. With his arrival, Darshan Nalakande’s address is expected to be cut.

On the other hand, we can see another change of GT in the form of Joshua Little. The Irish fast bowler has joined the Gujarat team after performing well for his national team. Little can trouble Mumbai batsmen with Shami at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. His arrival may force Dasun Shanaka to sit out. Shanaka has had some chances so far this season, but he has not been able to capitalize on them. (GT vs MI Qualifier 2)
