Pimpri: Nine and a half thousand ration card holders did ‘Portability’ leader

Pimpri : Leader News Service : If you don’t like the service provided by a company for mobile, you can get another company’s SIM card by portability. Similarly, under the One Nation-One Ration scheme, if the citizens residing in other states or other districts have come to Pimpri-Chinchwad for work, they have also been provided with the facility of buying grain from any ration shopkeeper in the city. Nine and a half thousand ration card holders have taken advantage of this portability facility.

Under Ration Portability, the government has given an option to the card holders to get grain from any cheap grain shop. Many cardholders have availed this service. Citizens from various places like Latur, Osmanabad, Beed, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sangli, Satara have settled in the city for employment and business. There is constant migration of daily wage workers. Therefore, the proportion of these workers coming from other states and other districts is high. Citizens and workers coming from other states or other districts do not have ration cards in Pimpri-Chinchwad. However, under the One Nation-One Ration scheme, they can get food grains even if their card is from another district or a foreign state.

Similarly, citizens of a city who migrate from one area to another, even if one ration shop does not get grain on time, the citizen can buy grain from another ration shop. The supply department provides food grains through ration shopkeepers so that the needy can get food grains at cheap rates. These include Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Preferential Family Yojana and food grains are made available to Orange Card Holders (BPL). Grains are given by thumb impression through e-pos machine.
