Bangalore, News Agency : One such team in the IPL that has been referred to as chokers is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Royal Challengers Bangalore has been a part of the IPL since its inception in 2008, and the team has some of the biggest names in cricket including Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. Despite being loaded with star-players, they have never won an IPL trophy. He reached the final in three years, 2009, 2011 and 2016, but failed to cross the finish line in all three years. In this year’s IPL, RCB once again became the chokers.

In yesterday’s match, Shubman Gill’s name was inauspicious for Royal Challengers Bangalore and auspicious for Mumbai Indians. In what was a do-or-die match for RCB, Gujarat Titans won by 6 wickets to end RCB’s challenge in IPL 2023 and RCB were once again the chokers in this year’s IPL.

In the final match of the IPL series on 21 May, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 197 runs on the strength of Virat Kohli’s century, Gujarat achieved the challenge with 5 balls to spare.

Kohli scored his second consecutive century in this year’s IPL by playing ‘Virat’ once again. Virat Kohli holds the record of scoring seven centuries in the history of IPL. In this he surpassed Chris Gayle (6 centuries). Virat Kohli hit 13 fours and 1 six in 61 balls and scored 101 runs unbeaten. But, Virat’s century was eclipsed by Shubman Gill’s century. Gill hit 5 fours and 8 sixes in his century.

Chasing the 198-run challenge set by RCB, Gujarat struck first in the power play. Opener Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed for 12 runs. He was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj. But after that, openers Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar started to attack the RCB bowlers. Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar put on a powerful partnership of 123 runs for the second wicket. Vijay Shankar was dismissed for 53 runs off 35 balls. At that time, Gujarat had reached 148 runs in the 15th over. However, after this, RCB dismissed Dasun Shanaka and David Miller for zero and six runs respectively. Due to this, the BP of Mumbai also increased along with Gujarat. However, on the other side, the brilliant batsman Shubman Gill hit sixes and fours.

RCB’s IPL 2023 challenge ended with a 6-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in what was a do-or-die match for RCB, while Mumbai Indians qualified for the play-offs as the fourth seeded team. Shubman Gill scored 104 runs off 52 balls to score a century. It was the third century in two matches on Sunday. Earlier, Virat Kohli (RCB) and Cameron Green (Mumbai Indians) scored centuries. Of these, Virat’s century went in vain.
