Ayan Hossain, a dedicated writer and enthusiastic reader from Berhampore, West Bengal, has been steadily carving a space for himself in the world of literature. Born and raised in Berhampore, Ayan’s journey is a testament to perseverance, passion, and an undying love for the written word.

Ayan was born into a family of government officials, where he was introduced to discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. However, it was his deep passion for literature that truly defined his identity. From a young age, he found solace in books and was particularly inspired by poets and writers from different eras. His literary journey formally began when he completed his board exams and took up English Literature as his major at Kalyani University. Later, he furthered his academic pursuits by earning a master’s degree in English Literature from IGNOU, solidifying his foundation as a scholar of language and literature.

His hobbies reflect his multifaceted literary talents. Ayan writes poetry, stories, and shayari in English, Hindi, and Bengali, showcasing his linguistic versatility. He believes that poetry is not confined by language but by the emotions it seeks to convey. Drawing inspiration from Wordsworth’s notion of poetry as “the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings,” Ayan channels his own life experiences—joy, heartbreak, and reflection—into his work. A particularly difficult heartbreak during his college years deeply influenced his writing style, infusing his words with raw emotion, resilience, and a profound sense of empathy.

Ayan’s creative journey took a significant leap after he completed his XI exams, when he first began writing seriously. His first-ever poetry competition was organized by a local group named ‘Khoai’, where he secured second place, a victory that boosted his confidence. Encouraged by this success, he participated in numerous poetry contests, including national-level ones. Notably, Ayan ranked among the top 500 poets in the prestigious Wingword Poetry Prize 2024 (Summer Cycle), with his work being published in their anthology. He also achieved a commendable 60th place in the 21st National Poetry Competition hosted by S7 Poetry, out of more than 1,000 poets from across India. His poems have found their way into three anthologies and several local magazines, affirming his growing influence as a poet.

Ayan’s writings often explore themes of love, social issues, pain, and anxiety—universal human experiences that resonate deeply with his readers. His work aims to give voice to unspoken emotions, creating a bridge of understanding and empathy between his words and the reader’s heart. Through his dedication and talent, Ayan continues to prove that poetry and storytelling are powerful tools for expressing personal and collective truths.

His journey is far from over. With each new verse and story, Ayan Hossain adds another layer to his literary legacy, firmly establishing himself as an emerging voice from Berhampore. His story is one of determination, passion, and the courage to turn personal struggles into creative triumphs, offering inspiration to aspiring writers everywhere.
