New Delhi; news agency : Now you can use car along with air route to go from India to Thailand. Because, a direct highway is being prepared for it. The project, which is expected to be completed in the next four years, will pass through three countries namely India-Myanmar-Thailand. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Wijawat informed that the part of this project in Thailand has been built and ready. Also, the Minister of Commerce of Myanmar, Aung Naing O, said that in the next three years, the construction of parts of his country will be completed. Vajpayee’s Dream Project (Travel India To Thailand By Car)
Former Prime Minister of the country Atal Bihari Vajpayee had proposed the concept of this highway. In April 2002, three countries met and agreed to this. This highway is being constructed under the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation project. Once it comes into view, trade and communication between the three countries will increase. Moreover, other neighboring Asian countries will also benefit greatly from this highway.
2,800 km. length
The length of this highway will be more than 2,800 km. It will start from Bangkok and then pass through the city of Sukhothai Mae Sot in Thailand. The highway will pass through the cities of Yangon, Mandalay, Kalewa, Tamu in Myanmar and Moreh, Kohima, Guwahati, Srirampur, Siliguri and Kolkata in India and will continue to Kolkata.
