Udta Teer, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, has recorded a noticeable improvement in box office collections during its opening weekend, with Saturday earnings lifting the film’s domestic total beyond ₹11 crore net. The film’s second-day performance has given it a stronger position after its first-day collections fell short of what a major theatrical success would typically require.

Trade reports citing Sacnilk estimate that the film collected ₹7.25 crore net in India on Saturday, following its opening-day earnings of ₹4.10 crore. The two-day domestic net total reached ₹11.35 crore, while the worldwide gross collection was reported at ₹16.28 crore.

The early figures have made the film’s weekend trajectory an important subject for Bollywood trade observers.

A Different Kind of Spy Story

Directed by Aakash Kaushik, Udta Teer is a Hindi spy comedy built around an unusual premise.

Ayushmann Khurrana plays Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani intelligence operative who enters India on a covert mission. Following an explosion, he loses his memory and forgets his true identity. He begins to believe that he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer and joins a security unit, unknowingly helping its members capture enemy operatives.

The story becomes more complicated when another terrorist enters India, adding tension to Bilal’s already confusing circumstances.

Sara Ali Khan plays Bilal’s wife and colleague. The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Suhail Nayyar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Brijendra Kala and Parul Gulati.

By combining the conventions of a spy thriller with a mistaken-identity comedy, the film attempts to create an entertaining alternative to more conventional espionage stories.

Saturday Helps Build Momentum

The film’s opening-day collection of ₹4.10 crore net was followed by a stronger Saturday performance of ₹7.25 crore. The reported increase of 76.8% gave the movie a welcome boost during the first weekend.

Saturday is often a significant day for theatrical releases because audiences have more leisure time than they do during the working week. Improved attendance can result in higher collections, especially when evening and night screenings attract more viewers.

Reports indicated that Udta Teer’s occupancy improved throughout Saturday, with the highest reported rate occurring during night shows.

Still, a rise in collections does not automatically indicate that the film has secured a successful long-term run. The coming days will determine whether its audience base remains steady.

What the Worldwide Total Reveals

The reported worldwide gross of ₹16.28 crore includes earnings from India and overseas markets. The domestic net total, by comparison, stood at ₹11.35 crore.

The distinction between net and gross collections is important when analysing box office reports. Gross earnings include applicable taxes, while net figures generally exclude them. Worldwide totals also incorporate overseas theatrical earnings.

According to published estimates, overseas gross collections reached ₹2.75 crore by Saturday, contributing to the overall worldwide figure.

These early numbers offer an initial picture of the film’s international reach, although further reporting may revise the totals.

The Next Few Days Will Be Decisive

After a stronger second day, Udta Teer has an opportunity to improve its opening-weekend result. Sunday collections will be particularly relevant, followed by its ability to retain viewers during the weekdays.

Audience recommendations may help the film if viewers respond positively to its humour, performances and storyline. Conversely, strong competition or declining attendance could limit its growth.

The film’s current box office figures demonstrate an improvement over its opening day, but its final commercial outcome remains uncertain.

For Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, the release adds another title to their filmographies. For the film’s makers, the immediate priority will be sustaining the weekend momentum and attracting audiences beyond the first few days.

With a reported domestic net collection of ₹11.35 crore and worldwide gross of ₹16.28 crore after two days, Udta Teer has crossed its first major early milestone. The subsequent box office trend will reveal whether this momentum continues.
