Margaon, Leader News Service : An unfortunate incident has taken place at the famous Mainapi Falls in Netravali where two people from a group of local tourists who had entered to enjoy tourism at the rain-affected waterfalls drowned while trying to save each other. While the forest department security guard managed to recover the body of Jagdish Khedekar (52 years) from Mhapsa, the search operation was on till late night to find Shivdutt Naik (28 years) from Vasco. Shivdutt’s body is stuck in a deep hole. As the current of the waterfall is terrible, all attempts to get down into the water are unsuccessful.

As many as six hundred steps and three hours to carry the body up

The team that brought Jagdish’s body up from Mainapi waterfall had to climb as many as six hundred steps. The police, forest department and 108 ambulance personnel came to help the dead body in heavy rain and wind. Sometimes I had to climb the stairs with a stretcher on my head and sometimes on my shoulder. Villagers also helped him in this work.
