Jalgaon: Leading News Service: For the past 15 days in Jalgaon district, farmers have received complaints that there is a large amount of damage due to the application of chemical fertilizers in crops such as cotton, soybeans, udad, moong etc., which have been sown during the kharif season. Taking immediate cognizance of these complaints, Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan had instructed the district collector to investigate. According to this suggestion, District Collector Aman Mittal visited the agricultural center at Wadli in Jalgaon taluka, issued a notice to stop the sale of chemical fertilizers and ordered to collect samples of fertilizers and discussed with the farmers.

In the village Kurhad of Pachora taluk, he directly went to the farm embankment and inspected the damage caused to the cotton crop due to the use of chemical fertilizers and instructed the system to complete the Panchnama of damage immediately on priority. (Girish Mahajan)

The District Collector said that if any company or seller is found cheating the farmers, instructions have been given to the Agriculture Department to take strict action against all such concerned. On this occasion, Minister Girish Mahajan interacted with the farmers through video call and learned about the problems of the farmers. District Collectors have been instructed to conduct Panchnama of the farmers and submit the report within 24 hours.

The law will be enacted in the session

The state government has taken the post of cheating farmers due to bogus seeds and fertilizers seriously. Accordingly, in the meeting of the state cabinet on 16th July, the issue was raised regarding the loss of farmers due to bogus seeds and bogus fertilizers in Jalgaon district and across the state. The state government will take a decision to pass a strict law against companies distributing bogus seeds and fertilizers and for this a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the agriculture minister. This law will be approved in the session and this will give a big relief to the farmers. District Superintendent Agriculture Officer Ravi Shankar Chalwade, Agriculture Development Officer Jagtap, District Milk Producers Association Director Arvind Deshmukh, Amol Shinde, Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Jalkekar, officers and employees of the Agriculture Department were present during this inspection tour.
