Kolhapur: A youth from Miraj was killed on the spot in a collision between a truck and a two-wheeler at Gaibi Ghat leader

Sarwade, Leader News Service: A terrible accident took place between a truck and a two-wheeler in front of the Hanuman temple at Gaibighat on the Radhanagari-Nipani highway. In this accident, Harishchandra Ranadive (age 27) (Rest. Shindewadi, Miraj Dist. Sangli), who was sitting on the back seat of the two-wheeler, was killed on the spot and Mahesh Vilas Ranadive (age 30), a young man of the same village, who was driving the car, was injured. The injured were treated at Rural Hospital Solankur and sent to Kolhapur for further treatment.

According to the information received from the incident site and the police, eight to ten youths from Shindewadi in Miraj taluka had left for the darshan of Balumama at Adamapur (Bhudargarh) on the occasion of Amavasya on Monday morning. At two o’clock in the afternoon, they would have left to see the waterfall at Rautwadi in Radhanagari taluka after visiting Balumama. Harishchandra Ranadive died on the spot when the two men were standing on the side of the road at Gaibighat for a short cut after being hit by a speeding truck carrying Chira from behind.

Another accomplice, Mahesh Ranadive, is seriously injured. He was first treated at Solankur Rural Hospital and sent to Kolhapur for further treatment. The dead body was handed over to the relatives after an autopsy was done late at night. The incident has been reported at Radhanagari police station and the truck driver has been arrested. Further investigations are being conducted by the police under the guidance of Police Inspector Ishwara Omase.
