New Delhi, Leading News Service: For admission in Indian Institute of Technology i.e. IIT colleges, students need to secure 75% marks in 12th. The Supreme Court today (29th) rejected the petition requesting that this condition be deleted.

Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice K. V. Viswanathan’s bench dismissed the petition. 75% marks in 12th is already a requirement for admission in IITs. The bench also asked the petitioner Chandan Kumar why there is a need to intervene in it now.

A student has secured 98 percent marks in JEE Mains; But in 12th she has less than 75 percent marks. Same is the case with other students, they have very good marks in JEE Mains exam and are eligible for JEE Advanced. Still they cannot get admission in ‘IIT’ due to 12th marks criteria. In such a situation, it was demanded that this condition should be cancelled.
