Pune, Leading News Service: In the 122nd graduation ceremony of Savitribai Phule Pune University, the university administration broke the seating protocol of the Raj Bhavan and installed five chairs instead of seven. Therefore, it has come to light that the Director of Examinations and the Finance and Accounts Officer were treated in a humiliating manner during the graduation ceremony itself.
The 122nd graduation ceremony of Savitribai Phule Pune University, known as the Oxford of the East, concluded at 4 pm at the Indoor Stadium in the presence of Governor and Chancellor Ramesh Bais. At this time, according to the pre-planned meeting arrangement under the royal etiquette of the Raj Bhavan, 7 chairs were arranged in the front. But, suddenly 2 chairs were kept back from that row, the Director of Examination Dr. Mahesh Kakade objected. Even as the chief coordinator of the graduation ceremony, Dr. Kakade was seated at the back. Vice-Chancellor Prof. However, it was seen that Gosavi did not take any role. Registrar Prafulla Pawar tried to mediate. But Raj Bhavan ADC Dilip Lodha refused to change the meeting arrangement again. So there was a tense atmosphere for some time. Had Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gosavi intervened, the dispute could have been avoided.
Meanwhile, attendance of selected students for the graduation ceremony was made compulsory and there was a rush. A verbal altercation took place with security guards and police personnel while the crowd of parents was being held back. There was a tense situation as some journalists were prevented from entering the hall. It was seen that a tense atmosphere was created on the dais due to the sudden change in the meeting arrangement even though the Raj Bhavan had decided the meeting arrangement according to the royal etiquette.
