Chandrapur; Leading News Service: In Chandrapur district, there was heavy rain in the rural areas and the city on Tuesday (18th). As the India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain on Wednesday as well, the district administration has declared a holiday for all the schools and colleges in the district on Wednesday (July 19). Therefore, schools and colleges will remain closed today (19th, Wednesday).

The Indian Meteorological Department had predicted heavy rains in Chandrapur district on July 18 and 19. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, heavy rain fell in the city and rural areas today on Tuesday. Rivers, lakes and ponds in the district are full. Some lakes have overflowed. It has been raining in the district since Tuesday morning. Due to this, there is a lot of water in the field. The newly planted seedlings are on the verge of rotting. Farmers have started to close the planting season due to heavy rains. Even today (19th) according to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Chandrapur district. The district administration has declared a holiday to avoid any untoward incident during the heavy rains and if an emergency situation arises, it will affect the school students. All anganwadis, pre-primary, primary, secondary schools, schools and colleges in the district will remain closed today (July 19). Collector Vinay Gowda has issued orders in this regard.

Collector Vinay Gowda has appealed to the citizens to be vigilant and take precautions due to the rain falling throughout the day on Tuesday and to contact the District Disaster Management Control Room, Collectorate Office, Chandrapur on 07172-251597 and 07172-272480.
