Ahmednagar, Leader Online: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has made a big announcement that Ahmednagar district has been renamed as Ahilyanagar after Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv. Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present at the birth anniversary program of Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar at Chaundi in Ahmednagar. In this event, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the name of Ahmednagar has now been changed to Ahilyanagar. Chief Minister of the state Eknath Shinde said that we are fortunate to have announced this decision during our tenure and at the Jayanti event in Chaundi.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Ahilyadevi would not have been seen if it was not for Holkar, Ahilyadevi never discriminated and Ahmednagar district was named Ahilyanagar. He was speaking at the birth anniversary program of Ahilya Devi Holkar at Chaundi.
