pure; Leading News Service:The Palkhi ceremony of Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will enter Satara district after completing Nira bath on 18th June. Against that backdrop, Satar Collector Ruchesh Jayavanshi inspected the Nira bath site at Sri Dutt Ghat on the banks of the Nira river in Padegaon (Khandala) on Sunday (28th) at half past ten in the morning.

On this occasion Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Dyaneshwar Khilari, Project Director of National Highway Authority Sanjay Kadam, Provincial Officer of Y- Khandala Rajendra Jadhav, Sub Divisional Police Officer of Phaltan Rahul Dhas, Tehsildar in charge of Khandala Chetan More, Assistant Police Inspector of Lonand Vishal Waikar, Group Development Officer of Khandala Anil Waghmare. Officials of Water Resources, Mahavitaran were present along with them.

On the Pune-Pandharpur Palkhi route, where Mauli’s palanquins enter Satara district, the road at Padegaon (Khandala) and the accident-prone area near the Nira river bridge, on behalf of the National Highways Authority, a demand for direction boards, Zeb crossing at Balu Patlachi Wadi, former sarpanch of Padegaon, Vijay Dhaygude, Namdev Dhaygude approached Collector Jayavanshi.

Collector Jayavanshi inspected the old bridge over the Nira river and directed the project director of the National Highway Authority Sanjay Kadam to install the broken guardrails of the old bridge over the Nira river, paint the bridge and install direction boards. Villagers including Padegaon Sarpanch Anita Mardane, Upsarpanch Santosh Mane, Shankarao Mardane, Gajanan Mane, former Sarpanch Harishchandra Mane, former Upasarpanch Raghunath Dhaygude, Bipin Mohite, Santosh Mardane, Gramsevaka Sadhana Jadhav etc. were present.

Demand for increase in palanquin subsidy

The subsidy received from the government for palkhi ceremony is insufficient. Gram panchayat members Raghunath Dhaygude and Harishchandra Mane of Padegaon demanded to the district collector Ruchesh Jayavanshi that a grant of four lakh rupees should be approved this year.
