Small Industries Hub in Belgaum; Planning in a total of eight districts leader

Bangalore; Leading News Service: Small Industries Minister Sharanbasappa Darshanapur said on Wednesday that there are plans to set up industrial hubs in eight districts including Belgaum. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will hold a meeting regarding the budget on Saturday 17. He said that in this meeting, he will propose that a fund of 700 crores should be given to the Small Industries Department.

The minister was talking to reporters in the Legislative Assembly. He said, due to Corona, there has been a big impact on small industries. To get out of it, we will hold a meeting with the small entrepreneurs soon and discuss. Also, small scale industrial colonies will be established in 8 districts including Belgaon, Chitradurg, Hubli, Bidar, Bijapur. Each colony requires 50 to 100 acres of land. Industries Department has 15 to 20 acres of land in each district. The rest of the land will be acquired by purchase or lease. There is an industrial estate in 100 acres of land at Ballari. But due to the problem of supply, the entrepreneurs are not ready to set up the industry. The minister also said that facilities will be provided to that colony soon. Apart from that, there is also a small scale industry colony of one thousand acres. Now five hundred entrepreneurs have come forward to set up industries in that colony. Minister said that we will provide facilities to them too.

There are currently three main industrial estates in Belgaum namely Udyam Bagh, Machhe and Honga. While Autonagar has a small scale industry colony. No information has been given about where the new small scale industry colony will be set up.

Belgaum No.2

Foundries are the hallmark of Belgaum’s industrial area. Belgaum district has the highest revenue after Bangalore. Spare parts are also exported from Belgaum to many countries including Germany. Despite this, the industrial estates of Belgaum have not got infrastructure facilities. It is expected that these facilities should be available from the beginning even in the new small industry colony.

Considerations regarding electricity price hike

Small entrepreneurs are beset by worries of rising electricity prices. Businesses across the state have filed complaints. Gulbarga Small Enterprise Association has also sent a statement. Therefore, Minister Darshanapur assured that these issues along with electricity rate hike will be discussed with the entrepreneurs soon.
