Birmingham; News Agency: After England declared their first innings at 393 for 8, Australia responded with an impressive 311 for 5 at the end of the second day on the back of Usman Khawaja’s century after an early collapse. Usman Khawaja batted throughout the day and hit 126 not out. He was well supported by half-centuries from Travis Head (50) and Alex Carey (52 not out). In the first Test of the Ashes series, England declared their first innings at 393 for 8 and Australia ended the day 14 not out.
